Democrats Unite Behind Adrin Nazarian

SAN FERNANDO VALLEY –  Leaders and rank-and-file democrats rallied behind Adrin Nazarian’s candidacy for the State Assembly as state Sen. Carol Liu and Democrats for Neighborhood Action recently endorsed the candidate they said represents the best choice for the San Fernando Valley.

State Sen. Liu, a Democrat who represents much of the Valley in California’s 21st District, currently chairs the Senate Budget Subcommittee on Education Finance, and was recently named Legislator of the Year  for her leadership in helping to preserve public library funding.

Democrats for Neighborhood Action is a community-based organization, chartered by the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, dedicated to advancing the progressive direction of the Democratic Party in Greater Los Angeles.  “We are thrilled to support Adrin Nazarian for State Assembly,” said Joyce Brody, President of Democrats for Neighborhood Action. “Given his passion and experience, in addition to his demonstrated track record of fighting for progressive values, we know that Adrin is the leader we need representing us in Sacramento.”

Adrin currently serves as chief-of-staff to L.A. City Councilmember Paul Krekorian. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley, attending high school there before receiving his degree in Economics from UCLA in 1996. He has been a CORO Fellowship in Public Affairs program participant, a board member of the East Valley YMCA and YWCA, and a founding member of the Generation Next Mentorship program.

“I am honored that Senator Liu and Democrats for Neighborhood Action joined our growing coalition to bring much needed change to Sacramento,” said Nazarian. “I’ve had the honor of working closely with them both for years and look forward to building on our foundation of shared values for the San Fernando Valley and entire state.”

The newly drawn 46th Assembly District includes the Los Angeles neighborhoods of North Hollywood, Toluca Lake, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Valley Village, Valley Glen, Van Nuys, Panorama City, North Hills, Lake Balboa and the Hollywood Hills. The primary is June 5, 2012.
